So on a lighter note from the last post earlier today, we had an awesome 4th of July week! We did our annual trip to Cali, staying at Mike's parents for a few days then off to my family's cabin at Bucks Lake(the best place on earth as far as I am concerned!). The kids had a blast this year, and we just enjoyed playing and relaxing. We feel lucky to be able to go, since the fires have been so bad there this year. The smoke was pretty thick, but got better each day we were there. Jake had three things he wanted to accomplish this year at the cabin. They were build a fire, build a fort and go fishing in the boat. He was able to do all three and had a great time doing those things with Daddy and Grampa.

Happy July!

You haven't seen mold until you've seen..........
..........a fridge and freezer that have had no power for 8 days. Here's the scenario.
It is 8pm last night when we pull up to the house after 10 hours of being in the car. Jake is glassy eyed and fevering watching Dora for the 100th time and Kenzie hasn't stopped screaming in hours. Mike has been driving the whole way because I unintentionally overdosed on "Less Drowsy" Dramamine when we left, 10 hours ago. (Today is Sunday and I am still recovering). We realize the garage door isn't working and then look at the grass and realize is is quickly dying. Mike opens the front door and comes back out a couple seconds later, eyes watering from the stench, and says the power is out. We find out with our neighbor Kaj's help that some lovely person with no conscious who thought they were either being funny or who really hate us decided to get into our power box and shut down all our power......about the time we left. So, the lawn and plants are dying, the house is about 200 degrees and smells, well, like something I can't describe. All the food in the freezer melted, rotted, came out the bottom of the freezer all over the kitchen tile, under the fridge and also rotted some of the sheetrock going down the stairs to the basement. We are indebted for life to our friend Shannon for coming over and staying until 11pm to help us clean up the mess. She saw things no one should have to see, or smell! She is wonderful ~ THANKS again Shannon, you're awesome! We are still getting the mess cleaned up and I think the smell is going to linger for some time, especially in the fridge/freezer. We did the best we could, but the smell has seeped into everything. Thank goodness for Scentsy! We are just grateful our home wasn't broken into ~ things could've been a lot worse. We are also grateful for homeowners insurance and helpful cops! Also a shout out our friends Liz and Brannon for inviting us over for dinner since all we have to eat is bananas and bread! Oh, and I can't forget my amazing husband who because of my overdose drove all the way home, took care of the kids while Shannon and I cleaned, picked up the house and went to the store at 11:30pm for some food. He is the BEST and I don't know what I would do without him! Thanks hubby!
