Is Summer Already Here??

Last week we were working in the yard and the ice cream man came around. It really brought back memories for Mike and I of our childhood. All the kids that were outside went and got their money for ice cream, and then crowded around the truck. Jake just stood on our lawn like a deer in headlights. In his wildest dreams he probably never thought a “truck” would bring around “ice cream”(his two most favorite things next to goldfish and Home Depot). So we took him over and he picked out a push-up. Remember push-ups? Definitely a kid treat.
So we sat him down on the lawn to enjoy his push-up while we continued with the yard work. About 10 minutes later I looked over and that is when I decided to take these pictures! He enjoyed every minute of that push up and was VERY disappointed when it was gone. We just let him make a mess and it was so cute to see the looks on his face as he devoured this new found treat. As he was finishing his push-up, I was hosing off the windows and he wanted me to spray him. So in the end, he had push-up all over him and was soaked from the hose but very, very happy. We are excited for it to be getting warmer so we can spend some more fun time outside.
By the way, save your pennies for push-ups ~ there has been quite an increase since we were kids! =)

The Race Is On!

Last Sunday, on Easter, we decided to try hiding eggs for Jake and his cousin Ty. We weren't sure if they would understand the concept, but we were sure wrong! They knew right away what to do, and the race was on for the easter eggs. Ty was a bit more quick than Jake, and in the end Jake was taking eggs out of Ty's basket to make the score even! They wanted us to hide the eggs over and over, but once we showed them there was candy inside, they quickly forgot about the hunt. Then the candy became a priority!(as you can see on Jake's face)
Now when Jake wakes up in the morning, his first word is usually "Chocolate....more please?"

Zoo Day

Today we went to the zoo for the first time this year. Jake went crazy. I think he was in shock that all the animals he saw were real, and not just in books. He couldn't believe they were all moving and making noises. We were there about 2 hours and he never stopped moving ~ not once. The giraffes were by far his favorite. He ran around to each one, screaming
"giraffe ~ WOW!" as loud as he could and trying to crawl under the railing to get a "closer look."
Then he would run to each animal station, and at each one stopping to say, "WOW!" then moving on to the next one. His other favorites were the elephants and monkeys. He even called one of the monkeys George, since Curious George is his favorite. I wish I could have taken some better pictures, but he didn't stop moving long enough for me to take one! Mike's family is here for a few days, so it was nice having them there to help keep track of the kids so we could all enjoy ourselves. I can't wait to take him back there again!
Makenzie is getting big and developing her little girl personality. She is usually all smiles and just enjoys whatever we are doing. She loves to coo and screech and play with her hair(well, with what hair she has!) Watching big brother is a big deal ~ she won't take her eyes off him when he is playing. It is really cute and fun to watch.
